All of the images shown below are basic Headshots used
for Actor & Model Portfolios and
the less dramatic for Business Cards and Corporate Websites Headshots.
The main emphasis for my style of
Photography are the eyes. All of my portraits make great eye contact
with the viewer. The Headshots
shown are a mix of Natural Light that flows in from a wall of windows in
my studio to complete
artificial light set-up using both continuous and traditional strobe
lighting.
Solid colors work best for close-up Headshots. If you want to look
longer and a little thinner then wear
a "V" neck blouse or outer suit coat. A round neck (OK under a
coat) will give the illusion of extra width. Covering the shoulders is
also recommended for a more professional and slimmer look.
Most people automatically think the wear black but black is not the best
color to wear to get noticed.
If doing a photo for a Model or Acting portfolio
I would not limit my wardrobe to black. Bright colors will get you
noticed a lot faster. Black will help
slim the body but it can also make your head appear a little larger
since it makes the body disappear.
The one thing all the clients shown had in common were they were new to
photography. All except for one started the session by saying "I
never look good in photos". My answer is always the same. A
Negative attitude is the only thing that I cannot control or fix.
Everything else I control with lighting and angles as well as post process programs like DPP,
Light room and Photoshop. With digital
images the goal is to get 95% finished image with the camera and use the
other tools to bring it to perfection. Another factor few understand is
the relationship of angles and light to a person individual facial charts tics. Placing the light in the wrong position just looks bad on
them while the exact same set-up looks nice on someone else. It's the
little details that gives the finishing touch each images deserves.
Professional Make-up and Hair Services
I have a professional make-up artist I recommend, Audrey
McKinney and if used will
GUARANTEE
you like her make-up application or will do the photo shoot over without charge.
Same with hair.
If you take my recommendation I back it up 100%.
If you use someone
other than who I suggest I cannot offer this guarantee.
I do not make anything from these
referrals. It just makes my job easier if the hair and make-up person
understands photography and how to bring out the best in each
client.
